February 5th….It was a cold night but things were certainly about to warm up as the rock and roll generation started filtering through the door ready to rock…word got around that Rockin’ Eddie couldn’t make it….he had cramp in his hand through signing autographs so his band opened the night without him…Deggsy,Andy Don and Gerry made sure they satisfied Eddie’s fans who both showed their appreciation….

15th January…our regulars rolled up ready to rock plus a few new faces as Rockin’ Eddie took to the stage with his set list of classics and delivered them to his fans

…backed by Gerry,Deggsy,Peter and Don he certainly got things started…he was followed by The Mojos with Sir Eric,Andy and Nick who ensured the jivers got their weekly exercise……

…and we saw the return of Sir Eric who was absent last week because he said he had to go to a family function….yeah sure…we all know he went down to the Palace as part of his royal duties to sort out Harry and Meghan and to give Andrew a damn good telling off!!…..it was then time for the country spot and in the absence of Texas Tony Don stood in with Steve and Andy and delivered a bit of achey breaky and some classic harmonious ballads…..

…..then it was time for the draw and then for Deggsy,Tony and Don to round the night off with a selection of rock and sixties including several insults across to The Church Street Choir because of their usual slightly off pitch singing….we have to put it down to their upbringing I suppose.

…and it was discovered that Don Woods is just his stage name….his real name is Dane Chantelle…which he insists goes on his dressing room door

.…but it’s his stage name which goes on autographs….if he ever gets asked for one…………………great night as always with a nice amount raised for the cause…and a special thanks to Reg for taking the photos….see ya next week….don’t be late.

8th January.….we started the new year with a great well attended night….we had a few musicians who couldn’t make it so we had a mix and mash which was enjoyed by our loyal crowd….the night was opened by Rockin’ Eddie who was backed by Don,Gerry,Steve and Peter….a great set of classics….he was followed by Nick backed by Steve and Andy….then we had a treat as Terry Fisher came along to help out and got up with his mate Deggsy and Tony and did a set from their days in The Del Renas….Don then joined Steve,Andy and Pete for a country set…..the night being rounded off by Don,Deggsy and Tony……it was a great start to the year with a nice amount raised for the cause….well done everyone and a happy new year to you all.

Then on came the country boys…Folsom Express…with Steve.Andy,Tony and Pete giving it large to the line dancers….in an attempt to sober them up….

….It was then time for top of the bill….the draw…giving Phil his weekly big moment….then it was time for DDT….Don, Derek and Tony who were joined by Frank on piano….music doesn’t get any better than this…at least that’s what they tell us….and there are moments where it seems some of our ladies actually lose control...

…We think that’s a big YES……

Guest band on 31st July,,,”Searchin'”….great band don’t miss them.

10th July…..Again the crowd turned up ready to rock….and the bands were taking no prisoners…..thankfully Olive and her mates, who had just got back from their holiday in Benidorm, had removed their mobility scooters from the car park so people could get in the front door……

…the night was opened by Frankie “Big Boy” Jay with his selection of songs from the past….the very distant past…songs which were once enjoyed during the first world war….that’s why we love him

…followed by Nick and Sir Eric with their blasts from the past…Eric looked very sunburnt…he said he had been playing golfbut he was more likely to have been at Wimbledon in the Royal Box with Meghan

…In the absence of Texas Tony the country band was joined by Don who did some close harmony with Steve…some say TOO close….but there is NOTHING going on!!..they’re just good friends!!……..they were joined by Rockin’ Eddie who rounded the set off…

.…then it was time for DDT to rock the night away as Derek,Don and Tony gave it large leaving the crowd wondering if it could ever get any better than this…………………another great night with a nice amount raised for the cause…well done everyone…..see ya next week.

5th June……….As always the crowd turned up ready to rock….we even had two couples from Malta…..THAT’S how popular WE are!!….we had two of our musos missing….Tony A. and Frankie “Big Boy” Jay….(but we are sure there is nothing going on there)…..which meant Andy our high quality drummer had to do the whole night…..a marathon effort which he handled with ease……..Rockin’ Eddie took the first spot backed by Don,Andy,Gerry and Deggsy

Then it was time for Nick and Sir Eric to take to the stage with Andy….Nick had to try and stop the screaming so he could launch into some serious Rhythm & Blues

….Then it was Country and Western time….Andy stayed put as Pete,Tony and Steve took to the stage….thankfully Steve wasn’t wearing his shorts so no arrests were expected…..there’s only so much we can take at our age….(the shorts are on Ebay)

.….it was then time for us to look over to Geoff….one of our regular supporters to see how things were going…..here he is when he doesn’t like the music

….and here he is when he is really enjoying the music…

So no clues there…..and as always the night was rounded off by Don,Deggsy and Andy (on his last legs)

….the place was buzzin’ as the crowd displayed their dancing skills…..another great night with a nice amount raised for the cause………what did you think of the night Geoff?

SEE YA NEXT WEEK………….DON’T BE LATE!!!!

15th May…..it was a hot night and things were about to get hotter as Frankie “Big Boy” Jay took to the stage with his backing band who were wondering if they had heard of any of the historic songs on the set list….

Frankie with Gerry,Deggsy and Andy (who is looking a bit puzzled)they were followed by Nick who had brought in Stevie on bass as Sir Eric was absent (although he denies it it is very strange how he always goes missing on Royal occasions…he is probably baby sitting for Harry and Meghan…)

Stevie had just returned from Spain and turned up in his shorts….which is why he is photographed from the waist up…..as some people might find the sight somewhat disturbing…..Andy didn’t look too impressed with the back view…

Steve stayed up and was joined by Pete and Texas Tony for our weekly country set…..it was then time for Rockin’ Eddie to take to the stage and give it large

….he was backed by Pete,Deggsy,Andy and Don……the best band on the planet….and they will tell you that themselves if you ask them…and if you don’t ask them the will tell you anyway

The night was rounded off as always by Don,Tony and Deggsy….who had to keep telling the ladies they were NOT The Chippendales!!……brilliant night again…well done everyone….see you next week.

8th May……the crowd rolled up…straight from the gym where they had been limbering up ready to display their skills on the dance floor…as Fankie “Big Boy” Jay took to the stage with his faithful long suffering backing band….Gerry,Deggsy and Andy

the jivers decided not to risk injury as none of them knew the steps to “I Love To Go A Wandering” and several other selections from under his granddads piano stool….so they sang along instead……then it was time for Rockin’ Eddie to take to the stage…..

Don and Pete joined the session as Eddie gave it large before leaving the stage to rapturous applause as he went for a lie down……then it was time for Nick and Sir Eric to launch into some rhythm and blues…..Sir Eric had just arrived from the Palace after educating Archie…at the request of Meghan and Harry…

It was then time for Phil and Brenda to do the draw while things calmed down….it was then time for Don,Derek and Tony (DDT) to launch into set of classics as the crowd burst into action……..

Another great night with a nice amount raised for the causewell done everyone….see ya next week!!….and we’ll do it all again.

24th April….It was the Manchester derby game….but this did not stop the more goodlooking of our supporters from turning up ready to rock….and the loyal musicians were ready to display their rare talents…

…when you get skiffle….rhythm and blues…country…and pure sixties and rock and roll you can’t ask for more….and for £1.50 the great crowd experience the best value on the planet…..and here they are

a

….and also we have a connection with the famous icon and Beatles manager Brian Epstein

D

……Derek Green…one of our resident bass players and vocalists quietly announced that he worked for Eppy in NEMS back in the 60s….but Eppy only spoke to him once….he said those legendary words….”we won’t be needing you anymore”….and his 14 day career in NEMS was over.

…however it’s best not to mention it to Deggsy !!!

Another great night with a nice ammount raised for the cause…again well done everyone…….see you all next week…..don’t be late!!!!!

17th April….Summer’s on the way….and things were hotting up in the rock capital of Withens Lane….and we were delighted to announce the marriage of two of our regular supporters…Gaynor and Geoff….congratulations from us all…..

… the night was opened by Frankie “Big boy” Jay…backed by Gerry,Derek and Andy…..wearing his Malibu summer wear (the teddy boy suit back into mothballs for the Summer) he launched into a track off his album “Songs We Haven’t Heard For 80 Years”….Derek’s face says it all….the Church Street Choir would have sung along but didn’t want to show their age…….

Nick was up next backed by Sir Eric and Andy….and launched into his selection of rythm and blues….with Sir Eric occasionally glancing over to Reg and his mob…. trying not to feel above it all and thinking that the sooner he gets back to the Palace the better….good stuff as always

…Pete,Stevie and Don then joined Andy to back Rockin’ Eddie and his giant guitar….. Steve did a great job despite being Lemsip assisted….he wasn’t too well but that never stops high quality bass work…that’s why we love him.

…As always the night was rounded off by those high quality teenagers in love…..Derek,Don and Tony….who Steve has named DDT…..which I hope refers to their initials…..however there is a similarity between the group and the insecticide…they have both been banned in many countries….another great night with a nice ammount raised for the cause….well done everyone see ya next week….don’t be late….be there or be………well you know the rest.

27th March….…It was that time again…time to ROCK!….and the crowd turned up expecting nothing less that perfection for their £1.50 hard earned cash….and that is exactly what they got!!….with a few musos missing there was a bit of a re-shuffle bandwise which ensured the high quality music from the even higher quality musicians…….and here they are…..

Left to right…Don …Deggsy…Stu…Andy and Steve…..psyched up and ready to rock…..in fact they were BORN ready!!!!!

…..Frankie “Big Boy” Jay….Gerry….Tony…Eric….Eddie and Pete…..Frank brought along his Dead Sea Scrolls containing his historic setlist….Tony announced he would be away for a couple of weeks (and there was no need for the big cheer from his band!!)….and Sir Eric returned after a week off…..he said he had a cold…yeah sure Eric….Royal engagements more like…you only have to look at him….trying his best to not regard us all as serfs……………..another great night and as always well done everyone….great bands great crowd……upward and onward ROCK ON!!

20th March…….the regular musos were joined by our guest band…Dublin Street….who gave us a none stop session of 60s,70s,rock and roll, and skiffle….great entertainment which was enjoyed by the crowd who sang along (especially to the skiffle which sort of gave away their ages)……another great night with a nice amount raised for the cause…well done everyone and a big thanks to Dublin Street

Dublin Street in full flight….thanks for a great show lads.

12th March…..despite competing with a football match we had a good crowd who had there priorities right….who needs football when you can ROCK!!

….and Girls Aloud (to loud according to the neighbours)…..

Another great night with a nice amount raised for the cause….well done everyone……see you all next week….don’t be late!!!

February rocked with a nice amount raised for the cause….well done everyone…….. forthcoming attraction ….March 6th Faron’s Flamingos with the fabulous Trevor Morais on drums….he has played with them all….not to be missed.

Don’t forget 6th March…..Faron’s Flamingos….do NOT be late…it will be a big one!!!!

23rd January…The loyal crowd braved the weather and turned up as always ready for their weekly fix….and the musicians were ready to deliver for two main reasons……………to display their talents and to keep warm………

Frankie “Big Boy” Jay opened up the proceedings with Deggsy,Gerry and Andy (who was ready for his weekly marathon)…..

.….then it was time to ask Rockin’ Eddie to stop doing his press ups in the corner as he prepared to give it large on stage…………and off he went backed by Don,Deggsy and Andy (who was now getting into his stride)…..

….after a none stop session of rock and roll Eddie had to be calmed down… and led off with a blanket over him…it was then time for the ever youthful Nick to give his all backed by Sir Eric.. ..who still fancies himself despite his fading U.S.A.tan…and…you guessed it …young Andy….

….Then through the swing doors (which have been specially fitted) came Texas Tony…Pete and Steve….still covered in dust from their ride across the prairie………they joined Andy (who was showing no sign of weakening) on stage and launched into their songs from the wild wild  west…….

..In the break the crowd were treated to a rendition of “You Raise Me Up” by Ernie,Reg and Ron….who have formed a Westlife tribute band…..called Lowlife………however after three strides forward Don,who was backing them,had to tell them to sit down…. as he couldn’t take any more………..Reg reluctantly walked back to his seat …..proudly displaying,in his back pocket,his tickets for the forthcoming Westlife tour………….sad or what…..

…after the crowd were persuaded to stay the final band rounded off the night as Deggsy,Tony and Don put memories of Lowlife out of peoples minds…as they rocked out big time……another great night with a nice amount raised for the cause…..well done everyone….                               ………… Ronan Keating from Boyzone has been on to us and he said that Lowlife even make HIM sound good…………and we understand that Westlife are now calling it a day.

16th January…… it was a cold night outside…..but inside the guitars were tuned up and the amps and radiators were turned full on so we were once again ready to visit those distant days of rock and roll…..

As always Frankie “Big Boy” Jay…. backed by a bemused Deggsy…Gerry and Andy….launched into a set that even Al Jolson wouldn’t have remembered….with “Little Sir Echo” taking the band completely by surprise…..

.Rockin’ Eddie then whips out his set list from his skin tight jeans and launched into his 50s classics backed by his orchestra – Don,Deggsy and Andy and things were hotting up as Nick entered stage right with Sir Eric who doesn’t ‘arf fancy himself with his U.S.A. tan and new svelte body…..and treated the crowd to a selection of  high density rock and roll with Eric throwing a few cool shapes behind his bass…………..as his set drew to a close the sound of horses hooves could be heard…… as Texas Tony,Steve,and Pete all arrived on the same horse to join young Andy for the country set………by now the crowd were getting a bit over excited…..especially the women……as Don…Deggsy and Tony took to the stage……Don looking slightly disappointed as he thought the wild screams were for him but they were actually for Reg (of The Church Street Choir) as it was revealed that he had tickets for the Westlife tour….yes seriously…..this explained why The Church Street Choir sing along in their seats and stand up for each chorus and walk forward…..yep…it really is pathetic……they need to count the candles on their birthday cakes……..

Another brilliant night with a nice amount raised for the cause….well done everyone…….see you all next week….don’t be late and don’t forget your dancing shoes !!!

It’s a brand new year and we are back to give it large on the Rock and Roll front……we are tuned up and ready to go…so fasten your seatbelts

9th January….it was a cold night but that did not stop the musicians turning up to give the loyal crowd their weekly fix…….

Frankie “Big Boy” Jay did his usual set from the distant past and took the guys who back him each week completely by surprise….and gave them each a small token of his gratitude…..mainly for their bravery in coping with the wide range of forgotten songs he throws at them each week….without which the night wouldn’t be the same…..here he is with his merry men…Gerry…Deggsy…and Andy

Then Nick and his Mojos…Andy on drums and Sir Eric….who had recently returned from The States where he had been performing his royal duties….mainly on the sunny golf courses….and didn’t he like to rub it in!!!

Next…direct from the prairie…Texas Tony was joined by Pete…Steve…and Andy for his country set

Rounding off the night with high quality Rock and Roll we had Deggsy…Tony…and Don who seems to have recovered from his unfair dismissal from Frankie Jay’s band for misbehaviour…..but he did receive a gift from Frankie (probably trying to get back in with him)…..a great night and superb start to the new year….well done everyone…..not forgetting our recent donation to Claire House….which is what we are all about.
